ChainCatcher 消息，比特幣網絡七日平均交易量上週五已降至 31.7 萬筆，創 2023 年 10 月以來新低。由於交易活躍度低迷，一些礦工開始尋找手續費低於比特幣核心默認中繼門檻（1sat/vB）的交易。Mononaut 指出，他們的一筆交易是提交給比特幣礦企 MARA（前身為 Marathon Digital），該公司公開運營著一個名為 Slipstream 的非標準低手續費交易通道。6 月 6 日，31 名比特幣核心開發者聯署公開信，反對節點過濾低費率或非標準交易，強調比特幣作為抗審查系統的本質屬性。開發者指出，強制用戶使用 Slipstream 等私有通道將損害去中心化特性。該立場遭到 Jan3 創始人 Samson Mow 等人士反對，認為核心開發者正在為垃圾交易移除防護機制。
