Tal Broda

Details

Tal Broda was former Vice President of Engineering at Paradigm. Previously, he was Head of Platform at Citadel Securities, where he was responsible for leading teams that built and operated modern, scalable, and highly available platforms that provided the foundation for the firm's systems. Before joining Citadel Securities, Tal was Vice President of Engineering at D2IQ, an enterprise cloud company. Prior to that, he was Chief Technology Officer for SOASTA, a leader in digital performance management that is now part of Akamai. Tal also held senior engineering roles at Oracle earlier in his career. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The Academic College of Tel-Aviv, an MBA from UC Berkeley, and an MBA with honors from Columbia University in New York City.

Katie Biber is the Chief Legal Officer at Paradigm, leading the firm's legal, regulatory, compliance and policy functions. Previously, she was Chief Legal Officer of Brex, a fintech startup reimagining financial systems for growing companies. Before Brex, Katie was General Counsel of Anchorage, a digital asset bank and platform, and she has also held leadership roles as General Counsel of Thumbtack and Senior Counsel at Airbnb. Additionally, Katie serves on the boards of directors of Anchorage, Code for America and Protocol Labs. She is a veteran of political campaigns, having served as General Counsel to Romney for President in 2012. Katie holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from George Washington University.

Dan Robinson

Dan Robinson is a General Partner and the Head of Research at Paradigm, focused on crypto investments and research into open-source protocols. Previously, Dan was a protocol researcher at Interstellar. Before Interstellar, Dan practiced as a litigation attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. He earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an A.B. from Harvard University.

Justin Slaughter

Justin Slaughter is the Policy Director at Paradigm. Prior to joining Paradigm, he was the Director of the office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs and Senior Advisor to Acting Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Allison Herren Lee. Justin also served as Chief Policy Advisor and Special Counsel to former Commissioner Sharon Bowen at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and General Counsel to Senator Edward J. Markey. He has also worked as a consultant in private practice, focusing on fintech and smaller technology companies. To begin his career, Justin was a law clerk to Judge Jerome Farris on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.

Jarry Xiao is a co-founder of Phoenix and was previously an engineer at Solana and Citadel Securities. He graduated from the School of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

Matt Huang

Matt Huang is co-founder and Managing Partner at Paradigm. Previously, he was a partner at Sequoia Capital, focusing on early-stage venture investments, including leading the firm's cryptocurrency efforts. Matt was the founder and CEO of Hotspots, a Y Combinator company acquired by Twitter in 2012, and was an angel investor in companies such as Bytedance and Instacart. He bought his first Bitcoin from MtGox in 2012. Matt holds a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT.

David Swain

David Swain is Paradigm's chief marketing officer and was previously vice president of global partnerships at Strava and head of global communications at Instagram. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University.
