At Smarterer, Jim was an early engineer who built advanced machine learning technology and enterprise software adopted by Fortune 100 companies. Jim's passion for building extends to the broader startup community through his developer event series, Stack Dive, and as an angel investor to several local startups, including AdHawk and LinkSquares. In another life, Jim developed advanced models to quantify risk and abnormal returns in the market for Financial Transmission Rights, a type of energy derivative.

Dave Balter

Dave Balter is currently CEO of Flipside Crypto, which provides business intelligence for blockchain organizations. Previously I led the Transactions (M&A and Partnerships) Team at Pluralsight, which I joined via the acquisition of Smarterer, a venture backed skills assessment startup I co-founded in 2010 and led as CEO since 2013. In 2009 I was a Finalist (darn) for E&Y Entrepreneur of the year. In 2008, I was recognized as a Future Legend by the Ad Club.
